“Grow Well Together combines horticulture sessions with creative and wellbeing activities for people in their mid-life who are currently, or have in the past experienced mental ill-health such as low mood, depression and anxiety. “Project Co-ordinator
According to mental health charity Mind, one in four adults annually experience a mental health problem, yet many will receive no treatment at all. Outdoor physical activity, in a supportive environment is proven to improve low mood, reducing feelings of stress and depression.
Using an eco-approach to improving mental health, Bosavern Community Farm is launching Grow Well Together, a project funded by BUPA UK Foundation, supporting people in their 30s, 40s and 50s, who are experiencing mental health problems.
Through this project Bosavern Community Farm offers access to a variety of farmland and natural spaces providing opportunities for people to develop new skills working outdoors. Project participants will be led through a series of FREE weekly sessions involving vegetable growing, nature crafts, wildlife-related activities and a well-being session. Sessions will be run by the Project Co-ordinator working with experienced facilitators, volunteer mentors and support workers.
The Grow Well Together project is seeking suitable participants in West Cornwall – whether through self-referral or via local GP surgeries, social services or community-based agencies.
Outdoor physical activity, in a supportive environment is proven to improve low mood, reducing feelings of stress and depression. Project participants will therefore be led through a series of weekly sessions involving vegetable growing, nature crafts, wildlife-related activities and a well-being session. These sessions will be run by the Farm’s Project Coordinator who will be working with experienced trainers, volunteer mentors and support workers.
The first series supporting up to 10 participants starts in March 2021 with four more series following on through the growing season.
