You may already have tried our first strawberries of the season and our rhubarb has been gracing the shelves of our farm shop since the middle of May. At Bosavern we are looking forward to 2015 being our first year of fruit production.
Next up will be gooseberries and black currants, then autumn raspberries from our new fruit cage which we were able to purchase thanks to a grant from the National Lottery. The cage will keep hungry birds off, whilst allowing pollinators (inlcuding our very own bees) access to the fruit bushes and flowers.
And if you have been in our “mothership” polytunnel recently, you may have wondered what the vine is that is gradually growing across the rafters. This is a kiwi plant and the latest news is that it has flowers which look like they are turning to fruit. Nikki’s ginger plants are growing too, so keep an eye out for Bosavern’s very own Cornish ginger in the future!
