During January we have dug up some delicious carrots and parsnips and potatoes, as well as pak choi, salad leaves, watercress and celery from our polytunnels and black winter radish. We have also been supplementing our own produce with locally grown, organic cabbages, kale, swede and celeriac (from Crowlas).
Here are some of our small veg boxes from January.
29th January 2016. Small £6 veg box – a pak choi, a head of celery (that’s the end of our celery until the autumn!), a bunch of carrots, a kilo of Valor potatoes; plus a swede and red cabbage from Cargease Organic farm near Penzance. The standard £10 veg box contained 2kg of Valor potatoes, a bunch of carrots, half a kilo of parsnips, a bag of mixed salad leaves, a lettuce, a portion of pumpkin (and that’s the last pumpkin until the autumn too!); plus a swede, red cabbage, and a bag of green curly kale from Cargease Organic farm near Penzance.
22nd January. The small £6 veg box contained – Valor potatoes, a bunch of carrots, a bag of spring greens, parsnips, black Spanish radish, and a cauliflower (the cauliflower was grown on an organic farm near Penzance).
The standard £10 veg box contained the same as the small, except with twice as many potatoes, plus a pak choi (Chinese greens), a head of celery, and a bag of watercress (our first of the year).
8th January 2016 – The small £6 veg box contained: Valor potatoes, a bunch of carrots, parsnips, plus a savoy cabbage, cauliflower and kale (the last three items are from an organic farm near Penzance).
The standard £10 veg box also contained a pak choi, a head of celery, and a swede.
