Due to continued demand we are running our 3rd ‘Introduction to Bee-Keeping’ course with Matt Pitt of The Cornish Black Bee Company and the bees of Bosavern Community Farm, St Just on Saturday 15th August 2015.
The day consists of a morning of theory, a short break for a shared lunch, and then an afternoon of practical hands-on experience in our apiary.

Matt is a great teacher and leads a very approachable, enjoyable class, suitable for all ages. This course is suitable for you if you are thinking of getting bees or if you are in your first season of bee-keeping and would like to understand more about your hives.

Class size is a maximum of 6 people, to ensure everyone gets the best experience. This means places are limited!

The course is weather dependent so we ask that you are available to come on the Sunday 16th August if the weather is poor on the Saturday.

We are aiming to keep the costs as low as possible to ensure that everyone that wishes to has the opportunity to learn about keeping bees, hence the bargain price of just £30.00- this price includes Personal Protective Equipment, all course materials, insurance, teas and coffees, and a £5 donation to Bosavern Community Farm.

If you would like more information or to book a place please email Nikki at the farm: info@bosaverncommunityfarm.org.uk
or call 01736 788454.

Beehives at Bosavern

We are delighted to offer a one day introduction to bee-keeping course with Matt Pitt on Saturday 20th June (or Sunday 21st if the weather is poor) here at the farm.

This will consist of a half day of theory, followed by a half day of practice, looking through our very own hives at the farm.

Spaces are limited to 6 people, so please email kate@bcents.org if you would like to attend.

This course is free of charge, made possible through grants from A4A and the local council community chest funding, and is a fantastic opportunity to find out a bit more about these very important little creatures!

Come celebrate our 5th Birthday this Sunday 7th May

We are pleased to announce that this Sunday 7th June we will be hosting our own special take on the Big Lunch and Open Farm Sunday –  it will be called ‘Bosavern Community Farm Open Farm Big Sunday Lunch, with Birthday Cake!’ catchy eh!? (with birthday cake as its also the farm’s 5th birthday!)

Picnic from midday

Our Big Lunch Picnic will be from 12pm, please bring something yummy to share! There will be the opportunity to purchase a slice or two of homemade cake (all donations to the farm).

Farm shop

Our lovely farm shop stocked with our own fresh produce along with delicious goodies from other local producers will be open 11am -6pm.

Farm tour

Hugh, one of our growers, will be leading a farm tour at 3pm to see how we are growing with the seasons. We will visit the polytunnels, the market garden and you can also meet our lovely hens!

Lend a hand on the land

We are also encouraging people to give an hour or so of their time on the day to give our brilliant team of WWOOFers (international volunteers) a hand working in the market garden – so wear clothes to get dirty 🙂

We are family friendly, so bring the kids for a run around!

Hope to see you there!
